Family Cycle Club Ride Spen Valley

26th March 2017

How Do,

Cycle Budda Family Ride is going to take in the 7 mile long Spen Valley Cycleway.  So the whole ride will be 14 mile if we go to the end and back, but remember you could turn round at any point to adjust the route and the mileage to suit your family.  The route sounds really good, FLAT disused TARMAC railway line and the all important TRAFFIC FREE.  Checkout the text copied from the Sustrans website.  You can also download a PDF of the route and lots of useful information here

The meeting point at 1400 is here at this link:
Park Rd, Dewsbury WF13 3TH
From - to:
     Dewsbury to Oakenshaw
  • Length: 7 miles
  • Type: Disused railway path
  • Surface: Tarmac
  • National Cycle Network: Route 66
Route Description
The route is a wonderful green corridor running through densely populated urban areas with long distance moor-land views, it passes a wildlife reserve and a rolling golf course.
The route is traffic-free with a gentle climb from Dewsbury to Oakenshaw. From Oakenshaw, you can continue into Bradford using signposted cycle lanes and paths.
