Parent Support Amazing!

It is only about seven weeks now until thirty six NHGS students cycle 158 miles from St Bee's on the west coast to Tynemouth on the east.

I have been spending the last couple of weekends meeting parents and students at Craggies Farm Shop to discuss kit and perform a bike suitability check.  I have one more weekend left to do but I have been overwhelmed by the support and the efforts of parents and students.

Firstly, the parents and students have had to support this ride with a minimum participation fee, but they also needed to buy pannier racks and other gear so the students, their sons and daughters could take part in relative comfort.  Not only have families paid a minimum fee but they have also gone far and away above that by collecting additional sponsorship money as well.  The students have been impressing me with their ideas and commitment to fund raising. Students have been selling tickets to host dinner parties for family and friends, been working for neighbours and selling bits and bats to make money.  Not only that, they are just so excited for the ride!  The students are going to be self sufficient carrying and cooking their own food. This trip is building independence, skills and resilience.  Really impressed guys.  Thank you so much!

If you would like to show your support please donate on the NHGS managed link below.  Last year over £11400 went to the school, we are trying really hard to beat this and we are 32% into our £10000 target.

When they start the ride on the 9th of July you can follow their antics on www.cyclebudda.co.uk.
